Cardiff Cycling Campaign FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Category: Main ->
| Answer | | · Who are we? We are a a group of people from all walks of life, who cycle as a main mean of transport. We all live in, or around Cardiff, though our campaign is open to members from anywhere. We all agree that Cardiff County Council's attitude towards cyclists is inadequate at best, and dangerous at worst. We therefore promote cycling in Cardiff and campaign to make it a cycle-friendly city - still a long way to go!

We also provide a focal point for anyone interested in cycling around Cardiff.

| | · What are your current campaigns? As well as campaigning to improve the facilities available to cyclists in Cardiff generally, we are currently pursuing some specific areas:City Centre, Pont y Werin and the routes from the Vale. There has never been so much money in the council's budget for cycling, unfortunately, it seems clueless as to how to spend it meaningfully and at the sme time is unwilling to genuinely consult cycling experts. Indeed, given that the rising profile of cycling as a healthy and eco-friendly means of transport, and also that Cardiff has long since reached saturation point for cars (see here, here, and here), one would think that Cardiff County Council would be motivated to provide alternative means of transport. Unfortunately, they are still very much stuck in the car-orientated mentality - despite the "sustainability" message that they deliver throughout the media.
